Carnegie Learning Assistment Interface

Design Document Teacher Intents

From our initial user interviews and contextual inquiries that we did with 8-10th grade math teachers, we have explored who teachers are and what their tasks are. From this we were able to determine their three main intents,

Stemming from these three intents, we have designed a suggested process they should follow to figure out what they need to teach. We have documented our design requirements and design solutions for each requirement with links to our observations and user comments.

Step 1 Step 2 Step 3 Step 4 Step 5

With this process outlined in our prototype and our documentation the information used to help students pass the test also helps students learn mathematical knowledge and skills. The three paths are similar enough that our interface supports these intents without targeting one interest over another. With our design we expect to help the teachers achieve their goal in a short amount of time.
