The Concept Validation exercise was designed by the project team as a technique for gaining input from the target user group on the most important needs to be addressed by the system. In planning the study, the student team developed a set of twelve different scenarios depicting the use of potential electronic lab notebook solutions or features. The sc`enarios were designed to depicting specific needs that would be satisfied by the implied solution. The scenarios were then presented to small groups of scientists and engineers. The team used this feedback to develop its final concept for the MEDRAD ELN project.
